What is .300 rcm?

.300 RCM, also known as the .300 Ruger Compact Magnum, is a rifle cartridge developed by Ruger Firearms and Hornady in 2008. It is based on the 375 Ruger cartridge case, shortened to fit in short-action rifles. The case has a rebated rim of 0.473 inches, which makes it compatible with a standard .308 Winchester bolt face. The .300 RCM delivers excellent accuracy, flat trajectory, and impressive ballistics, making it suitable for hunting a variety of game, including elk, deer, moose, and black bear. It has a muzzle velocity of around 3,100 feet per second and a muzzle energy of over 3,000 foot-pounds. The .300 RCM is available in several rifles, including the Ruger Hawkeye, Ruger M77, and Ruger American.
